Claim Your Air Source Heat Pump Grant Today!

Begin your journey to a greener future.

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme can help you towards a new air source heat pump.

What is the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?

You can get one grant per property. Grants are available for:

  • £5,000 towards an air source heat pump.

  • You cannot get a grant for a hybrid heat pump system (for example a combination of gas boiler and air source heat pump).

  • The system you install must meet certain standards, such as minimum efficiency levels.

  • The system’s maximum capacity must be less than 45kWth - anything over is not eligible.

  • See https://www.gov.uk/apply-boiler-upgrade-scheme/what-you-can-get for more information.

  • The grants are available for those that live in England and Wales.

Is an air source heat pump right for me?

Air source heat pumps are widely applicable to various home types and are a prevalent choice for domestic heating in the UK, with numerous installations already in place. Yet, it's essential to evaluate a few key factors before determining the suitability of a heat pump for your specific needs.

Considerations for air source heat pump installation:

Do you have somewhere to put it?

Ensure you have an outdoor space available for unit placement, allowing proper airflow.

Two types are available: monobloc and split systems. Monobloc has components in a single outdoor unit, while split systems separate components indoors and outdoors.

Monobloc systems are cost-effective, space-saving, but slightly less efficient. Split systems offer higher efficiency due to internal heat transfer, but require more installation space and investment.

If space isn't a constraint, a split system is recommended for optimal performance. Discuss with your installer to determine the best design for your needs.

How Loud is the heat pump?

The external unit, common to both monobloc and split heat pumps, generates noise due to air movement from large fans across the heat exchanger.

Under typical conditions, the noise is comparable to a nearby fridge, allowing normal conversation without raised voices, as long as the heat pump isn't working excessively hard or operating in very cold weather.

As temperatures drop, the noise may increase slightly during operation, but it remains conducive to easy conversation, requiring only a slight increase in voice volume.

In a split system, the indoor unit containing valves and pumps produces minimal noise.

How will you heat the rooms in your home?

In the UK, radiators or underfloor heating systems are commonly used to distribute hot water in homes.

If your home doesn't currently have radiators or underfloor heating, you'll need to consider installing them. This presents an excellent opportunity to optimize the system for a heat pump, leading to reduced operating expenses.

What is an air source heat pump?

An air source heat pump (ASHP) is a heating and cooling system that extracts heat from the outside air and transfers it into a building for heating purposes. It operates on the principle of utilizing ambient heat energy from the air, even in colder climates, to provide warmth indoors.

The ASHP consists of an outdoor unit that contains a fan, compressor, and refrigerant, and an indoor unit that delivers the heated air to the building. It absorbs heat from the outdoor air and uses a refrigerant cycle to amplify and transfer it indoors. During the summer, the process can be reversed to extract heat from indoor air and release it outside, providing cooling capabilities.

Air source heat pumps are known for their energy efficiency and environmental friendliness, as they can generate more heat energy than the electrical energy they consume. They offer a sustainable alternative to traditional heating systems and can contribute to reduced carbon emissions and lower energy costs.

1. Fill in the form below

Fill in the required information, such as your contact details, heating needs, and any specific requirements or preferences you may have. Submit the form to initiate the process.

2. Someone will be in contact to discuss your application.

Once we receive your form, our team will promptly review your information. We will then contact you to further discuss your application. We may ask for additional details or clarification to ensure we understand your heating requirements fully.

3. An on site survey will be carried out.

To ensure an accurate assessment and tailored solution, a site survey will need to be carried out. A qualified technician will visit your property to evaluate factors such as the layout, insulation, and existing heating system. This survey helps determine the optimal placement and specifications for your heat pump.

4. Your brand new heat pump will be installed.

Based on the findings from the site survey, your system will be designed and then a customized installation plan for your air source heat pump will be proposed. Once you approve the plan, your installation will be scheduled. An experienced installation team will arrive at your property and expertly install your heat pump, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
